There’s something refreshingly real about this sitcom star
Yesterday we were time travelers.
It was his birthday and he wanted to be the captain, so I became the lieutenant, even though I was driving and I had all the coordinates. We made puns about wormholes and spoke in our best nautical jargon.
When I was seeing Europe for the first time I kept comparing it to home and I felt like Los Angeles was immature, not as profound as Rome and all the rest because our visual connection to our city history seems to go only as far back as Hollywood’s Golden Age. Los Angeles feels like it’s only a few decades old while the great ladies of Europe are millennia. And it’s all right there, you are walking the selfsame cobblestones as Roman empresses, it feels like that might be true.
Anyway, we challenged all that yesterday and found the places that made Los Angeles feel profound. At the end of the day we left the coordinates, neatly printed on a torn sheet of notebook paper, in a crack of a column and I so hope someone finds it and retraces our steps.
"I wanted the Tyrells to look very much of a group. I tried to formalize it with the rose fabric, the fabric of their family, as this was being done for family." - Michele Clapton (Costume Designer)

Absolute perfection. Brides will be clamoring for thorns and antlers among their rose applique this season.

ransom and i got married several months ago in an intimate ceremony, but recently had a larger reception for more family and friends, and it was a blast! as we’re both writers, it seemed fitting to have the event at one of our favorite bookstores: the last bookstore in downtown LA. we’ve had a lot of requests for photos, so i thought i’d drop a few here. hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
:::for the especially curious:::
my bouquet: was made from the pages of ransom’s novel (miss peregrine’s home for peculiar children).
our photographers: brandon + katrina of brandon wong photography.
venue: the last bookstore in downtown los angeles.
catering: the extremely fabulous heirloomla.
flowers: from floral art!
the band: one of our favorite local indie bands, the gallery.
hugs and books!
The Last Bookstore is the most magical place on earth. What a stupendous wedding.
